Soulkitty

A stray kitty from the camp I directed who chose his way into my life by curling up in strangers' back seats until I realized he needed a home of his own. For twenty years he was my soul kitty.

UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS

The stray who chose me

The stray who chose me

Sebastian was a stray at the camp I directed, following campers around and waiting for my attention and love. For the first six months of his life, the kids fed him all sorts of crazy foods, Cheerios, cheese, you name it. Then one day he started jumping into people's cars and curling up in the back seat. That's when I realized he was a terrible stray, he needed to be someone's loved kitty. So he became mine.

The dinner bandit

The dinner bandit

Sebastian tried to steal our dinner every single night. We never actually let him have it, but he never stopped trying. I think those first six months at camp, eating whatever the kids slipped him, just hardwired something in him forever.

My everything in a strange city

When Sebastian came home with me, I was living in an unfamiliar city away from my husband and family for work. He seemed to know exactly when I needed someone and followed me everywhere. He was always waiting at the door. He turned a lonely chapter into something I could get through.

Our family of three

When Jason and I were finally able to be together in one place, Sebastian became both of our protectors. For twenty years we doted on him and adored him, including weekly acupuncture when his arthritis got worse. He was the heart of our home.

Reading in bed

Reading in bed

All I ever wanted with Sebastian was to cuddle in bed and read together. Quiet, simple, side by side. That was our thing.

June 25, 2024

The day we lost him and my world came crashing down. Twenty years wasn't long enough. I would give anything for him to come back. I have never had a relationship with another animal like I had with him.
