Sadie
Spooky-SadieA fawn greyhound who came into my life through what felt like fate, arriving from Florida in September 2016 after I dreamed about her before we ever met. She was my heart and soul dog.

Valentine's Day photoshoot

Sadie all dressed up for a Valentine's Day fundraiser photoshoot, posing like she was born for it. She had such a flair for the camera, and these shoots became some of my favorite memories with her, the kind of small, sweet moments I'd give anything to have one more of.
Sharing her bed with Mera

A photo came up in Facebook Memories of Sadie patiently letting Mera, a super spook brindle galgo from Spain, sit right on her bed with her. Any other dog would have been told off in a heartbeat, but Mera was the exception. Sadie was always such a steady support for the most fearful dogs, the ones who needed someone safe to lean into.
Becoming herself

Watching her transform from a mousy little spook into the confident, snarky, silly girl she was meant to be. That blossoming was one of the great gifts of our years together.
The day we met
When the dogs arrived from Florida on September 10, 2016, Sadie was the first dog to approach me in the turn-out pen. She was cat safe. She came home with me as a foster, but everyone already knew she was never going back to that kennel.
The dream that came true
Before Sadie ever arrived, I had a dream that I got a female fawn greyhound named Sadie. When the adoption group posted the list of dogs coming up from Florida a few days later and I saw "Jhawk Sexy Sadie FF," my roommate and I were stunned. I said, "wow if she's cat safe I think that's meant to be."
