Their Story

I met Rollo when I was 12 years old. He was a border at my barn and all I remember is just being obsessed with him like a young teenage girl would be. Since he was a border I wasn’t initially allowed to ride him but whenever I could I would groom him and just spend time with him either washing his legs or bringing him outside. I remember the first day that I was allowed to ride him I was so excited and I took so many photos. He was such a pro and took care of me in every way. Jeanie his owner was nice enough to let me ride him a lot but that didn’t really matter to me. I loved taking care of him and washing his legs which I probably have spent hours in my life doing. I remember when he was getting checked out by the vet in early 2022. He had some pretty serious arthritis other health issues and they decided to retire him on the same day that Tiger lily was diagnosed with founder which would take her life a month later. He lived for two beautiful years after he retired just soaking up all the treats, love and outside time he could. He was so stoic and even if anything was bothering him you couldn’t fully tell. He coliced a couple times through his retirement and the last time we brought him into the vet clinic where they were going to do tests, I went with him and thought that I would just see him when he came back to the barn. He died the next day at 6:30 in the morning due to sepsis. I was on my way to a horse show and couldn’t be with him, nobody was with him. I think of that day a lot and I think of rollo a lot. He helped me through some of the toughest years of my life and I will miss him forever.
